Our Story
Education and Storytelling Came Together.
Green Our Planet Studios grew from the intersection of two worlds: education and storytelling.
Our education roots come from Green Our Planet, a nonprofit that has spent more than a decade bringing hands-on STEM education into schools. That work gave us years of experience working directly with educators, students, curriculum, and classroom learning.
Our storytelling roots come from television and documentary filmmaking. That work taught us something equally important: getting the facts right isn’t enough. You also have to capture people’s attention and give them a reason to care.
We brought those two worlds together: curriculum, storytelling, filmmaking, and characters, to make complex ideas easier to understand and more engaging.
Then technology opened the door to something we hadn’t been able to do before.
Our Evolution
From Characters You Watch to Characters You Can Talk With.
For years, we created character-driven educational videos and curriculum designed to make learning more engaging.
Those characters could explain ideas, tell stories, make students laugh, and bring subjects to life. But the conversation only went one way. Students could watch the characters, but the characters couldn’t respond to them.
Then advances in AI made something new possible.
What if students could ask those characters questions? What if the characters could lead an activity, explain something another way, or respond to what a learner actually said?
Suddenly, characters no longer had to live only inside a video. They could become Teaching Assistants, Teaching Coaches, trainers, guides, product experts, and more.
Today, Green Our Planet Studios designs and builds interactive AI characters that bring together what we’ve learned from education, storytelling, character development, and technology.

Green Our Planet Studios is a small team with backgrounds spanning education, science, television and documentary filmmaking, storytelling, character development, and emerging technology. We bring those different disciplines together to help our partners find better ways to teach, train, explain, guide, and engage.
Kim MacQuarrie
Co-Founder & CEO
Kim brings together science, education, and television and documentary filmmaking. A four-time Primetime Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and author, he has spent his career making complex subjects understandable and memorable for broad audiences. Today he leads the studio's work at the intersection of education, storytelling, and emerging technology.
Kevin Leadingham
Head of Content & Production
Kevin brings more than a decade of television and documentary production experience to Green Our Planet Studios, where he helps turn curriculum and educational ideas into experiences designed to work in real classrooms. He has played a central role in developing and testing the company's Teaching Assistants alongside educators, curriculum writers, and school leaders.
Mitch Jesnek
Senior Video Editor & Content Team Lead
Mitch combines filmmaking and visual storytelling with hands-on work in interactive technology. At Green Our Planet Studios he develops and refines educational content and interactive characters across both the creative and technical sides of production, helping shape how characters look, sound, and interact.
