Website and Technical Information

Our website and service providers may automatically process technical information needed to operate, secure, and maintain the website.

We may also use website analytics to understand general website usage and improve our website. Depending on the tools being used, this information may include browser or device information, IP address, approximate location derived from an IP address, pages visited, dates and times of visits, and similar technical or usage information.

Interactive Service Information

Depending on the particular interactive service, information processed during an interaction may include:

• text or conversational input;
• voice or audio input;
• text generated from speech;
• selections or responses made during an interaction;
• information voluntarily provided by a user during a conversation;
• responses generated by an AI character; and
• technical and usage information relating to the session.

The particular information processed depends on the service and technology being used.

Green Our Planet Studios creates interactive services that may use conversational artificial intelligence, digital characters, avatars, and voice technology.

When a user speaks to an interactive character, the user's speech may be processed by speech-to-text technology to convert it into text. That text may then be processed by conversational artificial intelligence to generate a response. Text-to-speech technology may be used to allow the character to speak the response back to the user.

Third-party technology providers help us provide these functions.

For our current student-facing classroom technology, conversational interactions are processed through a third-party technology platform. The platform creates and stores text transcripts of classroom interactions, including the user's conversational input and the character's responses.

Green Our Planet Studios does not use student conversations, audio, or transcripts to train its own AI models.

Our current classroom technology provider has represented to us that the external AI providers used through its platform are configured so that conversation data is not used to train or improve those providers' AI models.

Protecting student privacy is particularly important to Green Our Planet Studios.

Our current student-facing interactive services are designed for use through schools, school districts, educators, or other educational programs and generally with teacher or other appropriate adult supervision.

For our current student-facing classroom deployments:

• students do not need individual Green Our Planet Studios accounts or individual student logins;
• schools do not need to provide Green Our Planet Studios with student rosters, student email addresses, or student identification numbers in order for students to participate; and
• students are not required by Green Our Planet Studios to provide their names or similar direct identifiers in order to interact with a character.

Students may nevertheless voluntarily provide personal information during a conversation. Teachers and participating organizations should encourage students not to provide personal or sensitive information that is unnecessary for the educational activity.

Our current classroom technology does not automatically detect all personal information that a student might voluntarily disclose during a conversation. Such information may therefore become part of a conversation transcript.

Some Green Our Planet Studios educational services are designed for use by students who may be under 13.

We seek to minimize the personal information needed to provide these services and to use information collected from students only as appropriate to provide and support the educational service.

Where applicable, we work with participating schools and districts regarding authorization, notice, privacy requirements, and appropriate use of student-facing services.

Under COPPA, a school may in appropriate circumstances act as a parent's agent in consenting to the collection of children's personal information when an online service is being used for the benefit of the school and for no other commercial purpose. Green Our Planet Studios remains responsible for its own obligations under applicable law.

Parents, guardians, schools, or districts with questions about information processed in connection with a student may contact us using the information provided below.

Where required by applicable law, an authorized parent or guardian may request to review or have deleted personal information collected from their child and may refuse to permit further collection or use of that information. We may coordinate with the applicable school, district, and technology providers to respond to such a request.

Green Our Planet Studios may use information available to us to:

• provide and operate our website and services;
• provide interactive AI and character functionality;
• respond to inquiries;
• support schools, clients, educators, and organizations;
• understand general usage;
• test, maintain, secure, and improve our services;
• troubleshoot technical issues;
• evaluate program usage;
• administer business relationships and billing;
• protect the security and integrity of our services; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

Green Our Planet Studios does not sell student personal information. We do not use student personal information, conversations, or voice interactions for targeted advertising.

Green Our Planet Studios uses third-party technology providers to provide some of the technology underlying our website and interactive services.

Depending on the service, these providers may provide:

• conversational artificial intelligence;
• speech-to-text processing;
• text-to-speech and voice processing;
• digital characters and avatars;
• cloud infrastructure and hosting;
• safety and content moderation;
• analytics; and
• related technical functionality.

Information necessary to provide these functions may be transmitted to and processed by these providers.

For our current student-facing classroom service, the technology platform processes student speech into text, processes conversational information using AI services, generates the character's response, and logs the resulting conversation transcript.

Our technology providers and configurations may change as our services develop. Different Green Our Planet Studios services may also use different technology providers.

For school and organizational deployments, additional information about providers, data practices, or contractual protections may be provided to the participating school or organization as appropriate.

Our current student-facing classroom technology provider stores text transcripts of classroom conversations as part of its session logging and safety infrastructure. These records may include conversational input, AI responses, timestamps, session information, usage information, and safety or moderation events.

These transcripts can be used to support technical troubleshooting, safety review, and other functions associated with providing and supporting the classroom service.

Green Our Planet Studios does not routinely review students' classroom conversations for marketing or advertising purposes.

Our current technology provider states that its personnel do not routinely monitor classroom conversations, although logs may be accessed for technical troubleshooting with appropriate permission. It also states that aggregate, anonymized information may be used for safety improvements.

Green Our Planet Studios is currently working with its technology provider to establish appropriate retention and deletion practices for student-facing classroom interactions. Until those practices are finalized, conversation transcripts may be retained by the technology provider as part of its existing session-logging system.

We intend to update this Privacy Policy as those practices are finalized.

Other information directly collected by Green Our Planet Studios is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, normal business operations, contractual requirements, or applicable legal obligations.

You may contact Green Our Planet Studios to:

• ask questions about our privacy practices;
• request access to personal information where applicable;
• request correction or deletion where applicable;
• request information about personal information collected from a child;
• request that personal information collected from a child be deleted where applicable;
• request that further collection or use of a child's personal information cease where applicable; or

We may need to verify the identity or authority of the person making a request before acting on it.

For information associated with a school deployment, we may coordinate with the applicable school or district and relevant technology provider to respond to the request.

Green Our Planet Studios uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information within our control.

We also rely on third-party technology providers to maintain appropriate safeguards for information they process in providing their services.

No internet-based service or technology can guarantee absolute security.

Our website may use cookies or similar technologies necessary for basic website operation, security, and functionality.

We may also use analytics technologies to understand general website usage and improve our website.

We do not use student personal information for targeted advertising.

As our website and technology change, the analytics and technical services we use may also change. We will update this Privacy Policy where appropriate to reflect material changes to these practices.

Green Our Planet Studios is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent websites or services that we do not operate. We encourage users to review the privacy information provided by those organizations.

Schools, school districts, businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other clients may use Green Our Planet Studios services under separate written agreements.

Those agreements may contain additional or more specific requirements relating to privacy, security, data processing, retention, deletion, access, or other matters.

Where an applicable written agreement establishes additional or more specific requirements concerning information processed for that client, Green Our Planet Studios will handle that information in accordance with the applicable agreement and applicable law.

Schools and districts may also have obligations under laws including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ("FERPA"). Where FERPA applies to information shared with a service provider under the school-official exception, federal guidance imposes conditions including school or district control over the use and maintenance of education records and restrictions on the provider's use and redisclosure of personally identifiable information.

We may update this Privacy Policy as our website, services, technologies, providers, or legal requirements change.

When we make changes, we will update the Last Updated date at the top of this page.

If we make material changes to our privacy practices, we will provide additional notice where required by applicable law or an applicable agreement.
